Laura Sandys MP and Sir Roger Gale MP met with representatives of the East Kent Branch of the Federation of Small Businesses on Friday to discuss their current campaigns and the work that the Government is undertaking to help small businesses.
Laura said: "It is always good to get together with the Federation of Small Businesses and talk about what can be done to help companies grow and succeed locally. One of the key points for discussion was the extremely positive news around the increase in the number of businesses based and people employed at the Discovery Park; and the £35m Regional Growth Funding available to businesses in the area.
“Having previously founded and managed two small businesses of my own, I understand the challenges that these companies face. It was useful to speak about some of their concerns and update everyone on the work that the Government is undertaking to help. This includes saving firms millions by reforming employment law and seeking more exemptions from burdensome regulations.
"I am always keen to assist and support small businesses wherever I can. They employ huge numbers of people across East Kent and are key to the future of our area.”
