Laura Sandys attended the Prostate Cancer UK event last week to highlight the discrepancy in quality of prostate cancer care throughout the UK and to raise awareness of this serious illness.
A report compiled by Prostate Cancer UK has assessed the prostate cancer incidence, mortality, survival and patient experience outcomes of Cancer Networks in England and has shown that Kent and Medway are ranked 4th in England for overall excellence.
Speaking after the event, Laura said: “Improving the quality of care for prostate cancer patients is an important issue which needs to be urgently addressed. Whilst this report is very encouraging for the Kent and Midway Cancer Network, I believe that there is more we can do in Kent in order to have the best quality of care for all prostate cancer sufferers, and I welcome the research being carried out by Prostate Cancer UK.”
