Laura Sandys MP is calling on young people across Thanet in school year 11 to take part in this summer’s National Citizen Service. The programme is running across Kent, offering an increased number of places for young people in the area.
Laura said: “I am keen that as many young people from Thanet as possible take part in this year’s National Citizen Service. The programme is offering local teenagers a fortnight away from home where they take part in a packed schedule of adventure and personal development activities. This is followed by several weeks when they can develop social action and community projects to benefit their local area.
“This year, places will be available for up to 30,000 people across England and in the future, the Prime Minister wants to see every single sixteen year old have the opportunity to take part. This is such a worthwhile thing to do over the long summer holiday and provides young people with a great set of skills for their futures. I hope that lots of those in school year 11 will take up this fantastic opportunity to have real fun and enhance their CV whilst making a difference to their communities.”
