Ramsgate has one of the most beautiful townscapes in the UK according to its MP Laura Sandys who nominated it as one of her favourite places in a Visit Britain feature in the Independent on Sunday (29th January).
She said: “I tried to nominate all our towns but they wouldn’t let me.
Sir Terry Farrell, the architect, said that Ramsgate had one of the most beautiful townscapes in the country and I completely agree. By day or night the harbour views are spectacular and with the great restaurants and vibrant café culture, it is very special all year round.”
Laura has been working to promote the growth of Thanet’s tourism sector. She recently met with representatives from Visit Kent, Canterbury Diocese and Canterbury Cathedral to discuss how visitors to the Cathedral could be encouraged to travel a few miles further afield.
Following the meeting, she said: “We have so much to offer visitors and just need to better promote all the diverse attractions in the area.”
