Yesterday afternoon Parliament hosted the Comic Relief and Maltesers reception to celebrate 25 years of Comic Relief and to raise awareness of their fantastic work in the run up to Red Nose Day on Friday 15th March.
The event also saw Ramsgate local and actress Brenda Blethyn share some of her personal experiences supporting the charity internationally. Speaking after the event, Laura Sandys MP said “it was very moving to hear some of Brenda’s experiences, and it really did highlight the fantastic work that Comic Relief does both here in the UK and in Africa.
“So many of the deaths we hear about are easily preventable, and as Brenda shared with us, it can be down to the smallest of things, such as malaria nets. There are some great ways that we can help fundraise in the coming weeks, and I would very much encourage people in Thanet to get involved in some of the fun events. Together we can make a difference.”
