On Thursday 14th February Laura Sandys, MP for South Thanet and a prominent campaigner on food issues, wrote the Thunderer column in The Times newspaper. She called for the UK’s broken food business model to be changed and for the Government to do more to protect the consumer.
This is follows her long campaign to see food policy in the UK reformed. The Smarter Consumer Commission, founded by Laura Sandys MP, has put forward eight food policies they would like to see implemented. These policies include being honest with consumers that prices are rising; cracking down on supermarket rip-offs; and monitoring food affordability.
